To celebrate World Hearing Voice’s Day, I asked each of my voices whether or not they’d like to write a post themed around ‘a few of my favourite things’. I didn’t stipulate how they should interpret this as I wanted the post to be in their own voice.
I’m aware that allowing my people to write their own posts will be confronting to many, but World Hearing Voices Day is about celebrating hearing voices as part of the diversity of human experience, and including my people is how I’ve chosen to start some conversations today, so feel free to ask myself (or Vanessa) any questions in the comments field below.
A few of my favourite things…
by Vanessa
(Sung to the tune of ‘My Favorite Things’ from ‘The Sound of Music’)
Musical Theatre and The Dark is Rising
Bitching, belittling and chastising
I love to abuse Andrew and pull his strings
These are a few of my favorite things
Cheesy Rom-Coms and things Harry Potter
Reminding Andrew he was a squatter
Saying things that I know really stings
These are a few of my favorite things
Shouting and screaming and yelling quite loud
Anything that hurts him makes me feel proud
If I were a bird I’d beat him with my wings
These are a few of my favorite things
When the bug bites
When the wasp stings
When I’m feeling mad
I just remind him of my favorite things
And then I don’t feel so bad

I liked reading all 3, are any of the other voices going to have similar posts? Maybe on the other imaginary menagerie (prob got the name wrong or the spelling.)

Audrey did write a post, but at the last minute asked for it to be taken down. I’m not sure why she had the change of heart, but it’s saved as a draft for if/when she decides to post it.
My people are immensely happy that you (and others) liked reading their posts. So much so that I’m pretty sure there will be more coming on either this blog or Imaginary Menagerie (which you both named and spelled correctly!) at some point in the future! :)

I sometimes have the same thing happen with the back 2s. They won’t refer to themselves as writing it but I know it was, then sometimes it is I who freak out and take it down and it is sometimes them. They still have a lot of the trust issues/suspiciouness that the back 1s had in the beginning. Maybe it they get out a bit and aren’t shut down by me or others they might evolve into the positive/neutrals like the back 1s.
I’m glad I go the name right and spelling, go me! Look forward from hearing more from both them and you.
