All that I am, all that I ever was…

I am more than my mental health. I am more than my homelessness. I am more than any one aspect of me. I am Addy. And this is…

Sunday Stealing: Love is heaven, love is hell

Welcome back to Sunday Stealing. Here we will steal all types of memes from every corner of the blogosphere. Our promise to you is that we will work hard to find the most interesting and intelligent memes.

Today we ripped off a blogger named Memphis Steve from the blog Steve’s Nude Memphis Blog. He does not say where he got it from, but judging by his profile picture, we don not want to know!

Massage

Although, the latter does allow the opportunity for giving long, all over body moisturising massages.

Be honest, who texted you last?

My support worker asking if I was going to the Acting group on Monday.

I really don’t get many exciting text messages…but at least I had an answer that was ‘someone’ rather than the obligatory ‘automated message’ I normally have to answer this oft-repeated (read: boring) question with.

Do you sleep with the bedroom door open or closed?

I tend to sleep with my bedroom door open in case I need to bolt to the bathroom due to PTSD fuelled nightmares of pain and chaos.

However, as this is potentially inviting axe-wielding killers into my bedroom, I also sleep with my bedroom window open so I could make a quick escape if necessary! :p

Do you drink tea?

Grrr! I answered this question yesterday.

As I stated incredibly loudly in a Quebec City Subway restaurant, “Je suis Angleterre!”; we drink tea as if our lives depend on it!

Do you have plans for tomorrow?

Tomorrow is a public holiday in the state of Victoria. It’s also the anniversary of one of my minor suicide attempts.

So no…unless you count battling bad memories ‘plans’, which I don’t.

What’s worse: dry skin or chapped lips?

Aren’t they basically the same thing?

Whatever, both are annoying, but dry and cracked lips get on my tits far more than dry skin. Although, the latter does allow the opportunity for giving long, all over body moisturising massages. Man, do I miss giving massages! :(

Would you be surprised if Facebook started charging?

Nope. Nothing Facebook does would ever surprise me. They are one of the most insidious organisations on the planet and I’ve never regretted leaving their site.

Would you rather go to Canada or California on vacation?

Anyone who doesn’t answer Canada to this question is either odd, delusional, Canadian or all three.

Canada is one of the few countries on Earth that could be described using the words ‘breath-taking’, ‘magnificent’, ‘awe-inspiring’ or variations thereof.

Saskatchewan

Why go to California when you could go to Saskatchewan?

How many social media sites are you registered with?

Two; Twitter (even though it’s been an age since I tweeted anything) and one that shall remain nameless due to its more revealing nature.

Are you wearing jeans, shorts, sweatpants or pajama pants?

I am wearing pajama pants.

Why? Because they’re freaking awesome; even after the crotch spilt the other day so I’m now revealing my right butt cheek to the world…which I guess makes them even more awesome! :p

Last person you told a secret to?

Probably all you wonderful readers of my blog; you girls (and guys) know everything there is to know about little old me! ;)

What are you listening to at the moment?

Love is Heaven, Love is Hell; in which a low-budget Canadian comedy-horror show out-Glees Glee and (almost) out-Buffys Buffy! Just watch it… :p

Where was the last place you fell asleep other than your bed?

After moving into my unit following years of homelessness, my mind was still in ‘street sleeping survival mode’ so – even though I owned a bed – I slept on the floor for several weeks because I felt it was all I deserved.

These days, even though I’m still not convinced I deserve it (damn you trauma!) I sleep in my bed because it’s a helluva lot more comfortable than a hard bloody floor! :)

Is there someone who you believe you will always be attached to?

I firmly believe I will always be attached to Meadhbh, Audrey, Shay and (for better or worse) Vanessa. It may be difficult for other people to understand how real my people are to me. They are not simply voices I hear but friends that have – in Meadhbh’s case anyway – been in my life for over twenty years. They aren’t going anywhere!

As for real people, well, even though I haven’t seen or heard from them in years, I will never forget some of the wonderful people I’ve met through my life. In a roundabout, metaphysical, hippy-esque way, I’ll always be attached to some of my old-friends.

And I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Are you going to any concerts this year?

Concerts cost money. I have no money. Go figure.

(Oh yeah, and thanks for asking this question the weekend of my favourite music festival, like I wasn’t feeling shitty enough already about not being able to go…again!)

Do you believe in Karma?

I believe good things happen to bad people and bad things happen to good people, because good people can handle the bad shit with style and aplomb, bad people can’t.

  1. You karma response is well stated!

I like free concerts but somehow I always spend more money there than a pay concert!

    Happy Sunday!

  3. I really would like to visit Canada one day, but I have to say if someone was giving me the trip, I have grandsons in California. I lived there almost all my life and the boys keep drawing me back.

  4. I lived in Saskatchewan for almost 3 years once upon a time, wheat and barly get old very fast! Not much beauty there anymore. Mostly oil rigs these days. Alberta! Loud and proud!

    • I have to be honest, I wasn’t a fan of Edmonton when I visited it on my travels. I did like the bohemian vibe of Old Strathcona (where I stayed) but wasn’t a fan of the West Edmonton Mall, which I’d been told was a *must see* whilst visiting the city. Perhaps this was because I’d spent two weeks hiking the wilderness of the Rockies, perhaps because I’m just not a ‘mall’ person.

But mainly because of Jasper’s awesomeness, Alberta certainly rocks! :p
